This resolution acknowledges that the State Senate Supports Governor Abbotts efforts to end mass illegal immigration into Texas

Supporting Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas' constitutional right to self-defense

Requires state and local entities and law enforcement agencies to cooperate with federal immigration law enforcement. The bill prohibits policies that restrict immigration law enforcement cooperation and establishes mandatory duties regarding immigration detainers. It requires agencies to enter agreements for housing detained individuals, creates complaint procedures, and allows the Attorney General to defend agencies acting in good faith. The bill includes whistleblower protections, establishes a civil cause of action for damages, prohibits discrimination, and makes entities non-compliant with the law ineligible for state funds. The bill includes severability provisions if any part is found unconstitutional.

Ban state entities, local entities, and law enforcement agencies from implementing any policies - whether written or unwritten- that restrict the enforcement of federal immigration laws. Any entity that adopts policies violating this legislation risks losing state funding. Under this bill, the attorney general would be authorized to provide legal defense for any entity or agency facing litigation due to their good-faith efforts to comply with these new regulations.
